Minutes of Fun!

I hope Jude made sure the snow wasn't yellow!

Landon couldn't stand wearing mittens!

Notice that I was busy taking pictures; I didn't even see Landon falling off of the sled!

Well, the forecast was right; it snowed a little bit, and schools were called off, which meant we didn't have to go to speech, and Phillip stayed home to play in the snow with the boys. Phillip called the Griffins to see if Jude could come play with Lofton in the snow, and since, Phillip was going to have his hands full outside, I bundled up and went out too. The boys had a big time throwing snowballs, pulling each other on the sled, sledding, and golfing (yes, Landon grabs the golf clubs every time we go out.) I am proud to say that we stayed out longer than it took us to get ready. We were out about 30 minutes. Then, Lofton and Jude announced that it was time for hot cocoa, and I was quick to agree.

Ready or Not!

Landon's new favorite game is hide and seek. It is so fun to watch him play. He rats everyone out because he'll go with those who are hiding, and then when the person who is it starts to go looking, he laughs and points to where the person is. He likes to hide too, but he only stays hidden for a few seconds. This picture is of him counting because Lofton told him that he was it.

Speaking of ready or not, Landon also learned something new that I am in no way ready for, but there isn't much I can do. He learned yesterday to climb out of his crib. He thought he was big stuff when he realized he could do it. He kept getting in and looking at me and Lofton and saying, "Watch." Luckily, he stayed in bed last night, and today, he stayed in when I put him down for his nap. So, we'll see.

"Snow" Day

We finally got a "snow" day, but as usual, we didn't get any snow. We did however, get some ice, but I am pretty sure it melted by about 9:00am, but I'm not complaining because I got to "sleep in." Well, I did sleep an extra hour, but Lofton came in my room about 7:00. We had a discussion about how half the fun of "snow" days is sleeping in. Landon must have gotten the memo because he slept until 9:30. I woke him up. I don't think we are going to take naps because we have done nothing to exert any energy. We've played Wii bowling and watched tv. We recently found that Landon likes Barney- I think they must watch it at school, so Lofton was a good brother and let Landon watch it, and though he complained about it, Lofton watched it too.

The forecast is calling for snow/ice/"bad weather" tonight, so we may have another lazy day tomorrow.

Exercise

Jonathan and Amy are training to run in the Music City half marathon, so Phillip has been running with Jonathan (at least for this past week he has). When Phillip left to go running on Monday, Lofton insisted that he go too, which in turn led to Landon wanting to do the same. So, when Phillip got back from his run, I had the boys bundled up and made Phillip take a cool down with them. They weren't gone long. I think they ran to Amy's and back.

Sugar High!

Lofton and Landon were on a sugar high Saturday after attending two birthday parties-one for Debbie Carla (Ella's Cabbage Patch doll) and one for our neighbor Clark! Amy called Saturday morning and invited us to Debbie Carla's birthday party, and of course, we are always up for an excuse to party and to get out of the house. Amy had went all out; the kids had decorated and Amy made cupcakes, and well, we got into it too because we took Debbie Carla a present. Lofton thorougly enjoyed his cupcake, and luckily Landon was upstairs entertaining himself, so he missed cupcake number one.

Then we left and went to Clark's birthday party where the boys both had some cake and a few pieces of candy from the pinata. Fortunately, Lofton also ate his hot dog, but I can't say the same for Landon. He just snacked on chips and Kool Aide. Believe it or not, Landon took a nap, but Lofton just rested on the couch. It was a good day. If Ella were smart, all her dolls would have a birthday!

21 Months Old!

The other day someone asked me how old Landon was and without thinking, I told her that he was 20 months old. After she walked away, I realized that my "baby" is actually 21 months old. He is changing and growing so quickly, and I don't even realize it is happening. He has the sweetest personality. He is our little Linus for he always wants his blanket which he calls monique. He also loves his bed, and he is so good about going to bed; we read some books (ok, a lot of books), but then we just give him his blanket and dog and tell him goodnight! Landon also loves his big brother, and wants to do everything Lofton does. He is talking more and more and putting two words together. He, like Lofton, is a momma's boy; however, he loves to go to school and to his class at church unlike his brother Lofton who cried until he was 3 when I'd drop him off somewhere.

He is literally going to be two before I know it. I have got to realize that just because I don't age anymore doesn't mean my children don't!

I've Said it Once; I'll Say it Again...

I love the South! It was 65 degrees on Friday, and we took advantage of the spring day in January. We went outside about 9:30 am, and we did not come in for naps until about 1:30. We threw rocks in the creek (Landon's favorite thing to do); we played at the park, and then just hung out in our own back yard with Jude before eating a picnic lunch. After lunch, Lofton grabbed some popsicles out of the freezer for Jude and himself, and as Jude was leaving, he thanked me for it. As I was telling Jude he was welcome for it, Lofton looked up and said, "Hey! I am the one who gave it to him."

I love warm days. It is so much easier to entertain everyone. Of course, we got a reality check Saturday morning when it was about 20 degrees.

Finally, "Snow"!

We finally got a little bit of accumulation of snow on Martin Luther King day. Why does it seem to snow when I don't have school. Anways, we went outside for a few minutes. It was so cold; Landon wasn't sure what to think. I intentionally didn't dress them to play in it, so they were both ready to give it up after about five minutes. Hopefully, we will get at least one big snow this winter and preferably on a Tuesday or Thursday- when I work!

The Grinch

Over Christmas break, Nana took us all to ICE at Opryland. I can't even believe that I agreed to go seeing that the temperature in the exhibit is 9 degrees, but believe it or not, I survived. Lofton loved it, and he even wanted to go back in when we got to the end. He asked me to go back, and altough, I was not FROZEN, I was FREEZING, so I talked Phillip into going back in. I am glad that we went. It was amazing to think that everything was carved from ice. Thanks, Nana.

Boy- N. A Noise With Dirt on It!

Today, we had the luxury of having another warm day. We have gotten to play outside four days in the last week, and my boys have been in hog heaven. They both love to play outside and get dirty. This afternoon while the boys were throwing rocks in the creek, I heard myself say several times, "Lofton, watch out. You're getting muddy," or "Hey guys, be careful. You're getting dirty." At one point, Lofton said, "It doesn't matter. These are my old clothes." They both did have one new shoes, but I laughed to myself and realized that boys will be boys, and I need to let them be. Of course, minutes later Lofton wanted to jump from one side of the creek to the other, but I told him that he might slip in. I swear I saw him roll his eyes at me as he convinced me that he could do it. So, I gave in, and as he successfully jumped from one side of the creek to the other, he said to me, "Take that!"

We came home to find Daddy with caps for Lofton's new cap gun. Lofton thought it was the greatest as he looked for his target- a squirrel. It was pretty cute watching him aim the gun.

Then, if my day of boys wasn't complete, Phillip told me that he wanted to take Lofton camping. I couldn't believe anyone would want to go camping in January, but Phillip said that they could sleep in Phillip's new VAN, which he refers to as a camper; it is as big as one. Phillip said he brought home a space heater. The mom/girl in me told him that I was worried about the cold and could the space heater put off carbon monoxide. He laughed at me, but luckily, he couldn't find a campsite open. But, the boys spent an hour or so in the drive way in their "camper." He said that they are going to sleep in it tonight and go trout fishing in the morning. Why would anyone sleep in a van when there is a perfectly good bed feet away? I guess you have to be a guy. But, I do want to fit in this house of testosterone if I can, so I suggested that we make smores in the fireplace! They agree, and I am on my way to Kroger to get the stuff!
