An Appropriate Place to Wear Boots

Mimi and Pop Pop went to Arizona this summer, and they sent Lofton a pair of cowboy boots. They got Landon some other things since he never wants to wear anything but crocs, but when Landon saw Lofton's boots, the crocs came off. So, they went and found Landon a pair of boots, and now I have two boys who wear boots with whatever the attire. But, on Saturday, we finally found a place to wear the boots- The Wilson County Fair. No one batted an eye when they saw Landon in shorts and boots.

We had a great time riding rides, petting animals, sitting on tractors, and visiting with friends- Kurt, Samantha, Sara, John Paul, Crystal, Will, and Chloe! Oh yeah, and winning gold fish; we now have two frogs, two fish, and a hermit crab; I think it is time to get a dog. So, fish and all, it was a great day.

Let's Celebrate Chuck E Style

Lofton was re-evaluated for speech on Tuesday, and Leslie, his speech teacher dismissed him from speech. She said that he only needed to work on the D sound in isolation and the th sound, but she said the th sound is developmental meaning a lot of 5 year olds struggle with it. Anyways, we were all excited about not having to wake early on our day off this year, and we were all proud of Lofton, so I told him that we were going to celebrate. He chose Chuck E Cheese and of course, McDonalds for lunch, and since it was his day, I agreed, but I did grab some Panera for me. Way to go, Lofton we are proud of you.

A Day at the Golf Course

Last Sunday, Lofton and Phillip were going golfing, and Landon wanted to go, too, so I had to go to help. We all had a lot of fun; Landon thought it was the greatest thing ever. He enjoyed putting the most, and he enjoyed chasing ducks and playing in the sand. I still am not exactly sure what's the purpose of the bucket of sand, but Landon and Lofton found a purpose. After the ninth hole, which was plenty; I couldn't have done another nine, we went to the boys' favorite- McDonalds! It was a great Sunday, not so relaxing but fun!

You've Got a Friend in Me

Lofton and Landon are the best of friends. I am filled with so much joy when I watch them play together. Landon absolutely adores Lofton, and he gets so upset if Lofton goes somewhere without him. When they first wake up in the morning, they both immediately say good morning and give each other hugs. Lofton calls Landon buddy, and Lofton is really sweet to him. One of their teachers told me that when Landon's class comes out to the playground at school that Lofton goes to the fence and stands there and talks to Landon. She said they usually hold hands, and that Lofton will stand there with him until either one of them go in.

The other day, Lofton busted out his all time favorite dress up outfit for Landon and helped him put it on. It brought back lots of memories, and I shouldn't have shared them with Landon because I have been spending a lot of time "flying" him around the house!

We went swimming at Nana's on Monday. It was great. The pool at her condo is great; it is on the rooftop; it is heated, and it is beautiful. We had so much fun. In fact, I mentioned to Roanna and April that if I didn't have kids I could sit there all day, and Lofton apparently overheard me. He stopped what he was doing and in all seriousness said, "But you do, so you can't!" Rub it in why don't you!

Cactus Canyon

Lofton attended VBS last week with his friend Alex. The theme of the VBS was Cactus Canyon/Cowboys, so of course, my son who loves to dress up, chose to wear a cowboy shirt and hat every night (except for the Saturday celebration). He was upset that he doesn't own a pair of cowboy boots. He had a great time, and he learned a lot. Saturday was the wrap up for the VBS, and Alex invited Landon and I to join them for their final celebration day. We all had a great time.

Pony Rides!

Landon on the "baby horse" as he called it. This was his first time of many attempts over the past year to ride the ponies. He was so proud after I finally made him do it. He wanted to do it, "AGAIN."

Tired of Being Indoors...

So, we put on our hats, rain jackets, and we grabbed our umbrellas to go play in the puddles!
