Church Easter Egg Hunt

Sunday was our church Easter egg hunt. Lofton of course knew what to expect, but Landon didn't realize that it is more of a candy pick up than an egg hunt. Landon, our candyaholic, was thrilled when he realized what was going on, but he was picky. He filled his basket with Smarties and chocolate only. They both ended up bringing up home tons of candy, and I think they both ate quite a bit on the way home even though Landon told me "only ate two" in the car.

First Soccer Game of the Season

Lofton didn't play soccer last spring, but this year he decided that he wanted to play again, so we signed him up. He is on team England; apparently, White House Youth Soccer is going with a world cup theme. His first game was this past Saturday, and I am proud to say that England beat Brazil 8 to 3. Lofton really had a great time, and he seemed to actually understand the game. He did a great job, and he enjoyed playing as much as he did cheering on his team. Of course, he had a great time after the game when he saw his "friend" Macey- the one he has a crush on. She too is on team England, but she is in the 5 year old league, and Lofton is in the 6 year old league, but they looked so cute in their matching uniforms!

Spring Break

Our spring break came a little early this year, but it really couldn't have come any sooner. I needed the week off. We enjoyed not having to get up early and rush out the door for school, and at the end of the week, we enjoyed the warmer weather. Jude spent the day with us Monday, and I re-painted our kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets while the boys played; it feels good to get something productive done. On Wednesday (St. Patty's Day), we went bowling with the Griffins and to lunch at Black Eyed Pea. Then Amy took the boys home with her to let them watch a movie with Ella and Jude; it was nice to have a few hours to just do nothing, which is what I did. Thanks, Amy and Jonathan. We played at Moss Wright Park and had a picnic on Thursday. It was a beautiful sunny spring day, and Becky and I beat the kids at a game of kick ball. Phillip took the day off Friday, and we went with the Griffins to the zoo and ended the day with a cookout! Amy bravely took Lofton home with them to spend the night with Jude. When I picked him up on Saturday, I found out that they'd woken up at 1:00am and Jonathan caught them playing the Wii. Apparently, they thought the 1 looked like a 7, or it was 1:07. Either way, they weren't supposed to get up until 7:00am. I hate that it is over and we've been back to our normal routine for a week, but summer is right around the corner- at least I hope the summer weather is.

A Homemade Fort

We had to install a new shower in our bathroom, and my dad used the box to make the boys a fort. They had a great time playing in it, but it didn't last long with these wild children. I don't know exactly what they did, but it was destroyed the next day.

WHCA Homecoming

The Homecoming Court

Some Eagle Alumni

Some current and former Eagles

Our Team!

Casey and Landon

Lofton is a true McConnell

He has no idea what he's gotten himself into

The boys had a great time after the game

As most probably know, WHCA has to close its doors next year. It will be a sad, sad, day, but for now, we are trying to soak it all in, and we began by celebrating last Saturday at our Homecoming game. Lots of former Eagles and their families came out to support us. Debbie and I got to reminisce as we coached one of the teams; we didn't play another school; we played our JV team with some alumni players added to each team. After the game, most everyone stayed and enjoyed Phillip's barbecue. The boys had a great time- that is after Landon woke up and got a second wind.

Book Fair

WHCA's book fair was last week, and we all went to family night. The boys really wanted to buy some books, but Landon was most interested in the popcorn and coke floats. Surprisingly, Lofton colored a picture for a contest (he hates to color). However, he took his time, and the next day, we were told that he won a free book from the Book Fair because his picture was chosen as a winner. Hopefully, this will motivate him to color more often because his momma loves to color!

"First Soccer Practice"

Last Monday, I rushed home from school, fed the boys, got them dressed, and ran back out the door for Lofton's first soccer practice. When we got there, we spent thirty minutes walking around the fields in the cold looking for his team. He started getting really upset because he was so excited. So, I called Phillip to verify that I was right on the day and time. As soon as I said the word soccer, Phillip said, "Oh, the coach called and cancelled." You moms out there know what was going through my mind at that time. I got off the phone and told Lofton that practice was cancelled due to the cold, and that Daddy was in the dog house. Landon was all concerned that Phillip would get bit, but Lofton got what I was saying. When I tucked Lofton in bed that night, Phillip was still at work, and Lofton said, "When dad comes in, I'll tell him to go to the dog house." Of course, dog houses were not involved, but I am still planning my revenge.

Like Mother, Like Son

As most of you who know me know, I LOVE Michael Jackson. Apparently, Landon does, too!
