The True Spirit of Christmas

It is more blessed to give than to receive, and giving to others really is what the season is all about.  Our youth group adopted a family with six children, so in order to provide them gifts for Christmas, our kids raked yards three different days to raise money.  Then Ashley, Becky, Mallory, Lofton and I took the money and shopped for the family.  After they were done raking and we were done shopping, the kids wrapped it all.  The following day after church, Daniel took the kids to deliver the gifts.  I think they realized just how blessed they are and just how good it feels to give to others.  Then as we do yearly, our school had its annual food drive.  We all worried that this year we wouldn't raise as much money to buy food with because so many are out of work and most people's finances have changed.  However, food is needed this year more than ever because of this same reason.  Well, we shouldn't lean on our own understanding because God is in control, and our school family raised more money in food donations than last year or any year before.  When God is for us, who can be against us?  What a great reminder for such a scary unpredictable year.
