Lofton's New Trick

Lofton just watched himself reciting the 23rd Psalm on the blog and asked why I hadn't posted this video. So, by request, here is Lofton!

Ghouls at Grassmere

On Saturday, Phillip and I took the boys to the zoo for Ghouls at Grassmere. Lofton and Landon had a great time and enjoyed everything. There was so much to do including the Scary Go Round, The Carnevil, a Haymaze, Trick or Treating, and a Haunted Hay Ride. Landon loved it all and suprisingly wasn't afraid of anything. It was some great family fun, but we learned a few lessons: next year we need to get our tickets in advance, and we don't need to go on the last day of it. However, we will definetely go back.

The 23rd Psalm

At school, Suzette Manibog has been teaching the kids the 23rd Psalm. She is planning on giving a toy to the first one who memorizes it. Well, she told me about it over a month ago, and Lofton and I worked on it some, but I really thought it was too much for him. However, he is doing much better than I ever thought. He even has some motions to go with it. Notice how his voice gets a little spooky when he talks about walking through the valley of the shadow of death. We are so blessed to be a part of WHCA preschool. Lofton has always had great teachers, and he has learned so much. The other day he recited most of the pledge of allegiance, and he sings the cutest days of the week song to the tune of "The Adams Family." By the way, if you want to listen to Lofton recite the 23rd Psalm, make sure you pause Michael Jackson! Oh, one more thing, you'll hear Lofton ask me what else, and yes, I say, "I don't know." I actually did know but since I wasn't 100% sure and I planned on putting this on my blog for all you Bible scholars to see, I did not want you to laugh at me.

Fall Break

Last week, we were on fall break. It was so nice to have a week off, and it was so needed. The boys and I enjoyed not having to get up and out of the house; we just relaxed most mornings, and even Landon enjoyed some tv time. We spent our days at the park playing and feeding the ducks, which Landon LOVES to do. It rained two days, so we went to Chuck E Cheese and White House Party Bounce. The rest of the week was beautiful, so we went to the zoo, played outside, and on Saturday, Phillip and I took the boys to Honeysuckle Hill Farm. Both boys loved the pumpkin farm; Landon couldn't get enough of the animals. We are now back to our normal routine; it was really hard to get back in the swing of things, but both boys were happy to get back to school to see their friends.

Candy Caper

Landon is like his momma in that he has a sweet tooth, and unfortunately, he has found the candy dish. Phillip gave him a piece of candy out of it the other night, and today, I found him climbing on the bar stool to get to the Halloween candy dish.

Circus

Last night we went with our friends the McAfees to the Shrine Circus. Phillip's dad and uncle are members of the Shrine, so they buy tickets every year. I have been taking Lofton to the circus since he was four months old. He loves it. Last year, I left Landon at home, and I thought about it this year, but I felt too guilty. I wasn't sure if he would be afraid, but he surprised me. He loved it. He clapped and danced. He did really well, and I am glad that we took him. The only time he got afraid was when Phillip sat him down beside a clown! I don't really blame him. Check out the picture of the clown; he is a little scary! We had a great time, and we will continue to make this an annual event since McConnell's Catering buys the tickets! ha ha

Hayden took a break from all the fun

Hayden, our nephew/cousin, turned one this weekend, so Lofton and I took a break from the fish fry to go to his party. On the way there, Lofton asked me what we were going to do at a baby's birthday party, and I told him that we would eat cake, and that was all he needed to hear. Lofton had a good time playing on the playground and playing with Hayden; Lofton adores little kids, and he is good with them. However, he wasn't so fond of Hayden when Hayden got icing on Lofton's face. Lofton was standing right beside Hayden while Hayden was eating his cake, and Hayden reached out and touched Lofton on the cheek. Everyone laughed, and Lofton got embarrassed, hung his head down, and started walking out of the room. I followed him and could tell he was holding back the tears, and I got a few tears in my eyes because I felt so sorry for him. Aunt He He came out with a paper towel, and we got him to shake it off a little. He went back in and enjoyed a piece of cake, and I was so happy that he did not retaliate! We had a good time, and it is so hard to believe that Hayden is one!

WHCA's annual fish fry and carnival was Saturday, so of course, we spent most of our day there. It is always such a fun day, but at the same time, it is always long and tiring. It was an especially long day for Phillip and Jonathan since they got up at 2:00 am to work ESPN Game Day before coming to fry fish all afternoon. Even though the cooks were tired, the fish was great. The boys enjoyed the carnival. Mimi and Pop Pop came to help me with the boys so I could help out at the carnival some. All in all, it was a success! Thanks to everyone who bought tickets, donated items to auction, and worked hard to help WHCA.

Spider Bite!

Last night when the boys and I came in, there was an enormous spider on the kitchen floor. Of course, it freaked me out, and I am sure that I squealed like a girl while I was trying to kill it, and in the mean time, scared Lofton half to death. He jumped at his own shadow and cried when I told him that it had bitten me- through a paper towel I might add. Well, as I was putting him in the bath and he was still crying, he said, "Spiders are like the devil." I asked him how did he figure, and he said, "Cause they are mean and they bite." I agreed, and a few minutes later in all seriousness, he asked me "Can you shoot webs?" I guess he hasn't quite grasped that Peter Parker/ Spiderman is pretend!
