Friday the 13th!

Caleb, Isaiah, and Travis hanging out in Porter Wagoner's dressing room

Well, Friday the 13th started out a little unlucky for me, but things turned around rather quickly. First, to reward our students for making good grades, turning in all of their assignments, and coming to school and class on time, we took them to Opry Mills to shop, to hang out, and to eat, and we also gave them a tour of the Grand Ol Opry. However, on our way there, is when my bad luck began. As I hit Briley Parkway, I was chatting with the four girls who rode with me, when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw the blue lights behind me. Yes, a Metro cop was pulling me, the chaperone, over. I about died, and my students just laughed at me. When the officer came to my car, I handed him my license, registration, and proof of insurance, and apologized. He informed me that I was going 75mph in a 55mph, and he kinda shook his head and gave me a quick smile, so I took advantage of his smile and said, "Oh, but it gets worse..." He looked at me as I explained that I was a teacher going on a field trip with four of my students in my car, and to beat all, my principal would probably pass me at any minute. He actually laughed at me as he walked back to his car. I thought to myself that I probably wouldn't be able to shop much as I had planned since I was going to get a big, fat ticket, but then he showed mercy on me and my luck turned around. He graciously gave me a warning and told me to teach these girls a good lesson. I was shocked but extremely grateful. Of course, I got teased the rest of the day by all of the other students and Dr. Jones who had all seen me as they drove past.

Getting out of a ticket was not the best part of my day. I also got to walk around the mall all by myself for two hours and eat at the Macaroni Grille. Who says Friday the 13th is unlucky?
