Oh, Deer!

Last weekend, Phillip and Lofton went with Jonathan and Jude to Missouri to Jonthan's parents aka Mimi and Pops. Jonathan and Phillip go to deer hunt, and Jude and Lofton go to hang out. Mimi kept them busy by taking them to the park and by letting them cook, play the Wii, and play with Playdough. Lofton was very impressed that not only Mimi and Pops have a Wii but Nana and Pepaw, Amy's parents, have one as well. (They spent one night in Mayfield at Nana and Pepaws.)

When they left for Missouri on Thursday, Landon got very upset until I told him that we were going to Ella's school bookfair and to eat with Ella. He loves Ella and refers to her as "my Ella." He got to spend a lot of time with his Ella because Amy and I took Landon and Ella to Chuck E Cheese on Friday to reward Landon for peeing in the potty, and Saturday Ella and Amy came over for dinner, and then on Sunday, I took Landon and Ella to the park. I also took Landon and his buddy Landon McAfee to the park and Sonic on Friday afternoon, which Landon said was "awesome."

Thanks Randy and Connie for showing the boys a good time, and thank you, Connie for sending me some pictures!

So Cute!

Tuesday was a long day with the death of Hermie (our hermit crab) and Landon's first haircut. So, as soon as we stopped for a snack and a cartoon, Landon laid down and went to sleep. Lofton came in the kitchen to get me and said, "Momma, come look. Landon is asleep; he is so cute." Landon did look cute, but what was so cute was big brother Lofton watching his brother sleep.

Rest in Peace, Hermie!

Last year Lofton got a hermit crab when we went to Destin. He named him Jack, after Jack and the Beanstalk, and he later changed his name to Hermie. Well, Hermie passed away on Tuesday, November 10th- at least I think so; he could've died earlier; I don't check on him every day. I had just been talking about how I couldn't believe Hermie had lived so long. I guess I should've knocked on wood.

Well, I waited most of the morning before breaking the news to Lofton. I really wasn't sure how he'd handle it, but I figured he'd be upset for a few minutes but then get excited about the thought of burying him. Well, I was wrong. As soon as I told him that Hermie had died, he teared up and cried for the next forty-five minutes. Through the tears, he said some really sweet things. Here is some of what he said, "I should've played with him more; Why does God make "people" die?; It's gonna break my heart, and maybe he killed himself because he wasn't happy here." I need to explain this last quote. I told him that we needed to bury Hermie so he could go to heaven because I was sure that Hermie would like that, and that is when he decided that maybe Hermie had committed suicide.

So, after the crying, we buried him and his two shells. Then we walked to the creek because Lofton said that we needed a stone to put his name on. After all of this, he had a great day. He hasn't fret too much since; he did ask me yesterday if I thought Hermie was in heaven yet.

As much as I wanted to take a picture of the burial, it would've been inappropriate, so here is a pic of Lofton when he first got Jack/Hermie.

First Haircut

Landon got his first official/professional haircut on Tuesday, November 10th. He has really needed one for several months now, but everytime I took him and Lofton to get a haircut, he would refuse, and Cameron, the guy who cuts Lofton's hair, hated to upset Landon. However, on Tuesday, I talked Landon into getting a haircut, but I had to make a deal. Landon got to sit on my lap while he got his haircut. So, I didn't get any pictures of the event, but here are a few of the after pics.

Honeysuckle Hill

It has been a fall tradition of ours for about the past four years to go to a pumpkin farm. However, this October got away from us, and I thought we weren't going to get to go, but luckily, Honeysuckle Hill opened the first Saturday in November for a pumpkin stomp. It was the perfect day to go too because it was about 70 degrees and the farm wasn't a bit crowded.

The boys had a great time. Landon loved feeding the animals and the fish and riding the four wheeler that pulled him in a "cow", which he rode four times thanks to Nana, who went with us and paid for him to ride it over and over. Of course, who could blame her; as soon as he'd get off of the four wheeler, he'd run to Nana and ask to ride it again.

Lofton loved everything about the pumpkin farm. He said his favorite part was the corn popper and the tornado. My favorite part was making memories with my family.

Warm Weather Fans

Lofton and Aunt Heather

We aren't fair weather fans; we love the Titans no matter what their record. However, no matter how much I like the Titans, I don't like them enough to sit out in the cold to watch them; I am a warm weather fan. Well, last Sunday was warm, so we all went to the game. The boys loved tailgating. I didn't think I'd ever drag them into the game since they were having so much fun playing football. Plus I wasn't looking too forward to going in because I thought Landon would never last, but he really enjoyed himself. His favorite part was when 101st Airborne parachuted into the stadium, and it ranked right up there with popcorn! Lofton sat with Grandfather for the first part of the game, and then when noone came to sit beside us, he came over with us for the second half to help entertain Landon. It was a great time especially since the Titans won!

Trick or Treat

The Griffins had a Halloween party this year. It was a lot of fun. Amy went all out and had a pinata, a candy toss, and a guess the witch's parts game. She had also made blood punch complete skeleton hands. They had hot dog mummies and eye balls to eat. I think that Landon enjoyed trick or treating more than anyone; he kept running from house to house saying, "I get more candy!" We had a great evening with all of our friends. Thanks, Amy for the great party.
