Tea by the Sea

Today, Lofton's class had a special day just for moms- tea by the sea. Lofton and I got to eat lunch together, which was a special lunch that they had helped Mrs. Teri prepare. We ate a sandcastle cake, which was so yummy. Lofton's class sang some special songs for us moms, and Lofton gave me some special gifts that he had made. My favorite thing was a worksheet that he and Teri had filled out about me. A few of the questions and answers are as follows:

My mom is as pretty as... ME"
My mom has a pretty smile!I like to make her smile by... "Eating my dinner all gone"
I'd like to tell my mom... "I like to eat dinner" How funny that he'd like to but it isn't going to. ha ha
My mom is so smart she even knows ... "how to work the computer"

Of course, I am leaving out the best, and fortunately Teri did too, but she asked Lofton what my name was, and he said, "Momma", so she asked him what Phillip calls me, and he said, "A jerk". She had to ask me the other day if she was hearing him right, so she asked him in front of me, "Lofton, what does your daddy call your momma?" He looked at me and said, "A jerk, and you call daddy a baby." Wow! How embarrassing and how true, but poor Phillip got blamed for my word; I am the one who uses jerk the most; in fact, the day Teri told me about this, we were hanging out with Jonathan and Amy, and Megan McAfee called me, and Phillip answered and proceeded to give her a hard time; she is so sweet and quiet, so I tried to help her, and I said, "Phillip, leave her alone; stop being a jerk." I wasn't even mad at him, and the word just rolled off of my tongue. I apparently use it so much that I even at times spell it because Teri said that when she couldn't understand him that he tried to spell it for her! Oh, from the mouth of babes, and I should know better. As a teacher, I have heard it all. Oh, to think of what the next few years will bring.
