One on One Time
Phillip and Lofton met grandfather in Daytona for some deep sea fishing. Grandfather had told Lofton awhile back that when he was six that he could go deep sea fishing, and if you know Lofton, you know he didn't forget it. So, he took Grandfather up on it and enjoyed 2 days of deep sea fishing with him and Daddy. Lofton had a great time and caught several fish. When he got home, he told me that he missed me and Landon but would love to go back to the beach.
I agree with him! I am such a beach bumb and as much as I would have loved to have gone, I just couldn't bring myself to sit in the car for 10 hours since we just got home from Destin. If I wasn't pregnant, I'd have toughed it out for some beach time, but Landon and I decided to stay home. We too had a great time. We went to 3 different parks, swam with Ella and Jude, went to Peekaboo Playtown with Ella, and sat in bed every evening and watched tv together.
It was great to spend some time one on one with our boys. Since I didn't get to spend time with Lofton and Phillip didn't get time with Landon, I took Lofton yesterday to see The Karate Kid (my all time favorite movie growing up! I loved Ralph Macchio) and Phillip took Landon to golf on the "big golf course" as Landon calls it. Lofton surprised me when he cried 3 times during the movie. He is such a sensitive little boy! After the movie, I had to explain to him how it wasn't real that the people were actors. After a long conversation about movies and real and pretend, I said, "Maybe we shouldn't have gone to see it; I hate that you cried." He said, "I was just acting!" So, I think he understands the difference!

Fourth of July
We celebrated the fourth of July on the 3rd and the 4th at the Griffins this year, but the big bash was on the 3rd! It was such a relaxing, fun day with friends. The kids enjoyed swimming and playing, but I really think they enjoyed the sparklers the most! The big kids (the men) had fun with the fireworks. But, the best part of the party was that it wore my boys out, and they slept until after 9:00am on Sunday morning.
My little Elton Johns!
By the way, thanks, Joni for postin all of your 4th pics on photobucket so that I could steal them!

Florida- The Sunshine State?
My friends Julie and Matt graciously let us use their beach home this summer, and we weren't going to pass up on such a generous offer- especially because I needed a vactation. We worried the oil might keep us from going, but the oil wasn't a problem- Hurrican Alex was! We went despite what the news was reporting on the oil spill. In fact, the oil wasn't much of a problem; we didn't even realize there was oil in the water and on the beach until Wednesday. And, I would have rather had to deal with oil than the rainy, overcast weather brought on by the hurricane.
Either way, I can't complain. We had a gorgeous place to stay, and we did have three beautiful sunny days. We also didn't let the rain get us down. We took the kids to the beach anyways. Of course, we had to cut our beach time short several days due to weather, but the kids swam in the pool and enjoyed Sandestin's playgrounds anyways. I think they had the most fun playing on the playground in the rain because they (especially Gabe) got some serious air time on the slides.
It was an extremely relaxing vacation. I read a book, took a couple of naps, exercised with Amy, ate well, shopped with Amy, played cards, and watched a lot of interesting tv. Did anyone know there is actually a show called "I Was Pregnant But Didn't Know It"? Phillip and Jonathan got to play golf twice, and the kids got to play with their DS's and watch tv without hearing us complain about too much tv or video game time.
All in all, it was a wonderful vacation, and though we didn't come back with tans, we did come back with a new hermit crab whose name is Mario and Luigi! Thanks again, Julie and Matt for letting us use your home; we all need to go together sometime perferably not during hurricane season! ha ha
