No Need To Shed Any Tears

On Thursday, our heat went out, and we were informed that we would have to purchase a new unit. Unfortunately, the new unit could not be installed until Friday afternoon, and Thursday night it was supposed to get down to about 12 degrees. So, we packed our bags and went to spend the night with Jonathan, Amy, Ella, and Jude. In the chaos of packing everything that we would need for the boys and for me to get ready for work on Friday, we forgot one very important thing- Red. Phillip went up to the house Friday morning to get a few other things that we had forgotten, and when he came back down to the Griffins he said, "I don't think Red is going to make it." He was right because this morning (Saturday) Red had bit the bullet. I told Lofton that we had forgotten poor Red and that he had gotten too cold and sick. Lofton said, "Yeah, he's dead." So, since he was taking it so great, I asked him if he wanted to flush him so he could be with his momma and daddy. Lofton said, "Sure!" He thought it was great, but on the way to the bathroom, he said, "Oh, Red! You are my sweetheart." But, the sympathy did not last long because he could not wait to flush him, and as soon as Red went down Lofton said, "Now we gotta get a new one!"

Landon

It is hard to believe that Landon is nine months old! Time with him has flown by so much more quickly than it did with Lofton. I can't believe that he is crawling, pulling up, waving, and as much as I hate to admit it saying da-da. He is so much more content than he was several months ago. Now that he is mobile, he doesn't get bored as easily. He loves to follow Lofton around and get into Lofton's things. He just wants to do what big brother does, and big brother loves to show his baby brother how to do things. Lofton, our big boy, is a great brother. He always includes Landon in everything, and Lofton loves to make Landon laugh.

Landon has had a somewhat rough month. He is scheduled for eye surgery on Monday, January 28th, and he goes for a heart echo tomorrow morning. Dr. Keith heard a heart murmur at Landon's nine month check up, and he wants to make sure everything is ok before his surgery. Dr. Donahue, our optamologist, originally recommended that Landon have a heart echo since Landon has colobomas in both eyes. Both doctors assure me that they feel everything will be normal and this is just a precaution. Please pray for him. I will keep everyone updated.

Finally!

Lofton, Landon, and I went to Columbus this weekend to Mimi and Pop Pop's. In preparation for the trip, Phillip bought Lofton snow boots and gloves. All weekend Lofton looked for snow, and it was cold enough; Sunday it was 5 degrees, but we did not see any snow until today, Tuesday the day we were leaving. It was only a dusting, but it did not stop Lofton. He loved it. He threw snowballs at Landon at the window, and he tried to build a snowman. Luckily, he is a lot like his mom because after about ten minutes he was knocking at the door to go in.

Goodbye Global Warming

Last week we got our first glimpse of snow. Lofton was so excited. It did not start until bedtime, so Phillip let him go out on the deck to make snowballs, which they brought in the house to throw at me and Mimi. The snowballs were not the only things brought in; Lofton brought in Frosty too, well, a minature version! Hopefully, Tennessee will see some significant snow in the near future. I could use a snow day.

Global Warming?

I have been joking that if this is global warming, then I'll take it. Yesterday, January 7th, we went to the park after school with our friends the Boyds and Griffins because it was still 65 degrees at 4:00. Then today, Julie and I took the kids to the zoo. It is hard to believe we are enjoying outdoor activities this time of year, but in my opinion, it sure beats building snowmen, but don't tell Lofton; he can't wait to see some snow!

Happy New Year!

We went to the Roses for New Year's Eve and enjoyed spending time with them as well as our friends the Griffins, the Lockharts, the Wolfords, and the Boyds. The kids had a great time playing. Lofton especially enjoyed the Wii. Phillip was so proud that Lofton knocked out three opponents in boxing. Landon enjoyed not being the youngest there; he kept crawling towards Brock and smiling from ear to ear. I would love to know what he was thinking. The adults just enjoyed eating, talking, and playing Dominoes.

Phillip and I left around 9:30; Landon fell asleep on the way home, but Lofton was still wanting to party. I was partied out mainly because I have a crick in my neck from rolling down Jonathan and Amy's front yard in some contraption Amy had bought at Target. Lofton helped me use the back massager on my shoulder, and before we knew realized it was 10:30. We quickly got ready for bed and let Lofton stay up to watch the ball drop (balloon pop as Lofton says) in New York. So, we made it up to see the New Year in part of the world. Happy 2008 everyone.

Landon's Accomplishments

The month of December has been a big month for Landon. He started crawling on my birthday, and on December 29, he started pulling up. Along with all of this, he also has a new tooth- like he needed it. This tooth makes number 9! It's hard to believe he will be nine months in a few weeks.
