Cross Country 2020

4th Grade Fun

On August 19--not 18--2010 you were born

And you defied everything that the doctor’s had sworn

They had told us you may have some things wrong with you

But God had other plans; this we always knew

You were perfect, and our biggest baby to boot.

With brown hair and brown eyes, you were oh so cute

You completed our family, and a party of five we became

And without you, our lives would not be the same

You are such a fun kid who loves the outdoors

And you keep us laughing- you’re never a bore

You love to play in your fort, the woods, and the creek

And when you find bones, into the house with them you sneak

You have your own chickens and sell their eggs for money

You’ve also made some selling Gushers fruit gummies

You’re the best helper and always willing to lend a hand

When we ask you to do something, we don’t have to demand

Staples is your nickname for such a good reason

You seem to get hurt with just about every single season

Cutting off your finger caused your momma to have some PTSD

But I love your story of how it was bit off by a shark in the sea

You know the Bible and love God and Jesus a lot

Last summer, you were baptized and much joy to us that brought

It’s hard to believe you’re double digits and in grade 4

Our pride and love for you will always grow and soar

Enjoy your week as the star student of the class

The fun you have in elementary school is hard to surpass!

Love you bunches,

2020 Keeps Throwing Punches

Just incase we thought teaching in the midst of a pandemic was enough, why not throw in a tornado to show us that we can handle more.  What a crazy, scary day!  I was thankful that Landon was with me when it started brewing- he was a bit panicked.  Levi, whom I thought would be the worst, came to my room at the end of the day in high spirits.  He said he wasn't scared, but he couldn't hear because of his swimmer's ear he said.  :)

Levi's Double Digit Celebrations!

Levi turned double digits, and we celebrated double!  Mimi and Pop Pop came a few days before, so we went to eat Mexican and opened his gifts from them.  He also talked me into giving him his gift from us early; we bought him a scooter.  He picked it out, so he knew; I figured he may as well enjoy it.

Then on his actual bday, we had his cohorts (his class as they now refer to them since they are together and don't have to mask up) and his buddies Teague, Heath, and Carter over for a swim party.  It rained a bit as it always seems to do on his bday, but that didn't stop this crew from having fun.  Heath and Teague spent the night, and they celebrated the next day, too.

You only turn double digits once.  We are so proud of this big boy.  He is full of life, and keeps our home full of laughter as he is quite hilarious.  He loves the outdoors.  He loves to collect things- bones, arrow heads, sticks, and rocks.  He loves to be with Mr. Jones- especially when they enjoy slushies together.  He loves Legos and his Switch.  Most importantly, he loves his family and friends and God.
